Summer 2018 : Travel Blog

Summer 2018 : Travel Blog

From beautiful white sand beaches in the Maldieves to pretty city escapes all across Europe, there are so may places for you to visit now and it's not an easy choice deciding what to spend your money on. Spending endless hours on comparison websites to make sure your potential hotel only has the best of reviews... well that can end here.

In this blog I'm going to take you through all the places I have visited and would love to visit, all the hotels I have personally stayed in and the hot spots and 'cool' destinations you see on Instagram to help you make your choice...

Barcelona : SPAIN

Having just returned from a Once Upon A Time social shoot out in Barcelona, I can say that the city did not disapoint! Rich in culture and diversity, with a wild nightlife that is suitable for any age. Barcelona has a relaxed pace, months of endless sunshine, unbeatable food – with the cultural and design clout of almost any city in the cold north. This is a city you should be sure to visit, if you're thinking about the perfect city escape in Europe.

We stayed in the SB Glow hotel, which was lovely and to which I would give a 5* review. The room was immaculate and there was a lovely rooftop pool and bar, although you would have to wake up rather early if you're planning on sunbathing as there are limited beds avaliable... but if you're simply looking for a city break to actually explore the city as opposed to tanning all day long, this hotel would be perfect for you!!

Madrid : SPAIN

Madrid has really revamped itself in the past couple of years. The museums have all got bigger and better, while the centre of the city is smartening up with new boutiques, delis and cafés opening up every week. It’s perfect for a culture-rich long weekend or city break, with great food and a lively atmosphere at night.

Rome : ITALY

Rome's mild Mediterranean climate is a persuasive draw for visitors from all over the globe, with quirky shops and a buzzing aperitivo scene. The challenge is deciding what not to do: there are so many churches, archaeological sites, piazzas and paintings to see that a lifetime is hardly enough here in Rome.

Venice : ITALY

Venice never loses its capacity to enchant. Summer brings some of the most daunting crowds, but there's a reason why they come: the sheer loveliness of an exquisite city that seems miraculously built on water. Venice's churches and museums offer antique glories aplenty, but there is also a vibrant contemporary art scene among the city that you will be dying to explore whether you're into that sort of thing or not!

I have visited Venice on a few occasions and would say that it doesn't really matter where you stay.

You are so busy during the days doing all the touristy bits and bobs, you barely get to see your bedroom... unless of course you plan on going to Venice on a romantic getaway...

In either case, I would say that location is what key here as you literally have to walk everywhere. St. Marks Square is the centre of the city so if you're looking for the perfect hotel, you'll more than likely find it very close to there.

Florence : ITALY

Florence is one of Europe’s great art cities.

Giotto’s frescoes, Michelangelo’s David, canvases by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and a host of other greats. There’s so much exquisite art and architecture, it’s difficult to know how and where to start. If you're into art, history and culture then this is the city break for you.

Florence is also a lively city with a vibrant restaurant & nightlife scene, embracing opera, classical music and contemporary art, this city is absolutely stunning throughout.

Milan : ITALY

Famous for being Italy’s fashion and design capital, Milan has an international cosmopolitan outlook, a vibrant food and drink scene and scores of hotels to suit all budgets. What largely draws visitors is the city’s excellent shopping, designer stores line the Quadrilatero D’Oro district, while outlets, high street shops and boutiques are found in all corners of the city. If you plan to come here on your summer travels you're going to want a lot of spending money and even if you stay in a budget hotel, this holiday would end up being expensive.

Verona : ITALY
